Ingredients

  • 200 g butter
  • 5 cloves fresh garlic chopped
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp guajillo chile powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp coarse salt
  • ½ tsp lime powder

Instructions

  • 1. Start by combining all the spices in a small bowl.
½ tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp dried parsley, ½ tsp black pepper, 1 tsp guajillo chile powder, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tbsp smoked paprika, ½ tsp coarse salt, ½ tsp lime powder
  • 2. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it's completely melted. Then, add the chopped garlic to your melted butter and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    200 g butter, 5 cloves fresh garlic
  • 3. Add in all the spices. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • 4. Stir everything together until the spices are well incorporated into the butter.
  • 5. Transfer the butter mixture to a large bowl and let it rest until it cools down. Refrigerate your compound butter for 1-2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • 6. Once chilled, place the butter onto a sheet of cling film and shape it into a log. Wrap it tightly and chill it in the fridge for at least an hour.
  • 7. When you're ready to use your Cajun Butter, simply unwrap the log and slice it into coins. Add a slice to your favorite dishes for an instant flavor boost!

Notes

  • Use Good Quality Butter: The base of your Cajun butter spread is butter, so make sure you're using good quality for the best results. I prefer using unsalted butter so I have control over the saltiness of my Cajun butter.
  • A Little Extra: Add a splash of olive oil to the butter as it melts. This prevents the butter from overcooking and gives a smoother texture to your sauce.
  • Heat Management: Keep an eye on the heat. Keep it at medium-low heat. Too high, and you risk burning the spices; too low, and it won’t blend properly.
  • Let it Soften: Before you start spreading Cajun butter on meat or veggies, let your butter soften to room temperature. It makes it easier to blend everything together smoothly.
